Summary: “A man estranged from his family receives word that his father has chosen to take himself off life support within forty-eight hours.”
I’m not sure when it happened, but I’ve become a huge sucker for these emotional movies. The more heart wrenching they are, the better. Lullaby did not disappoint!
While it is a depressing and dark topic, it is mixed in with a few laughs and some really great characters that make it more than that. The story feels real and really sucks you in. You care about the family and are hanging on, wondering what is going to happen next.
And the side story with a 17 year old girl dealing with terminal cancer was so beautifully written. I think I’ve also now got a thing for Garrett Hedlund (my friends from High School would be proud).
The one thing I did find odd, well more like three things, were the characters played by Amy Adams, Terrence Howard, and Jennifer Hudson. Pretty big names, for how little the characters added to the overall story. I could’ve done without Amy Adams’ character completely. And Jennifer Hudson played the worst nurse, ever. Every time she spoke I would get annoyed.
Other than that, if you like movies with heart that will probably make you cry, check this one out and let me know what you thought!
Available on Netflix.
